Sleek Magazine‘
Dog Days
(20.09.2022)
The visual concept we developed for our aesthetic approach toward the September editorial shooting for Sleek Magazine focuses on the narrative of punk and the identity it embodies, especially regarding its philosophical spirit of alternative thinking. Defining punk as a rebellious and nonconformist movement, it has always been a subculture expressing that vision through looks that provoke. Regarding this, the conceptual essence we distilled from that movement, which impacted at least my youth and perspective of my being, is the idea of being alien to an environment, but by choice and as a statement – being different and wanting to be different. The narrative of our motifs is that of being the antibody in the rest of the scenery yet in a bold, progressive, stylized, and assertive way.
Our Shooting-Set-Up will be mainly placed on-location and shot on medium format color film, yet it will be junta-posed with Studio-based black-and-white photos with an index character, showcasing our five talents in their key looks. Providing this index, we aim to emphasize the difference in perception based on the given scenario. Working mainly with daylight for the main, we keep a natural but stylized look.
