Bless You For Loving Me
(06.10.2023)
Bless You For Loving Me was created by the artist Serious Klein as an ode to those who kept him alive in times of darkness and hardship. The concept describes what he went through in a nutshell. In the talks Felix Aaron and Serious Klein had over almost a year, he mentioned that „vulnerability is not really shown in the community that (he) grew up in, and (he) really had to learn to vent, to share what’s going on in (his) mind.“
In some way, this film is a tool to vent; the output one is looking for as an artistic catharsis. While the film deals with anxiety, pain within the first chapter, we follow him making amends with himself, allowing himself to embark on this journey of healing his wounds and going through the process. Yet, as he stresses out, „It doesn’t end here; it’s a never-ending process.“
Working closely together, Felix Aaron and Serious Klein developed a visual narrative towards his thoughts, painting them as subtle moving photographs that leave room for the words, the beautiful poems of Maame Marion, captivating this feeling he describes from an outside perspective of that person closest to him. To capture these raw feelings and unfiltered thoughts, it was evident to shoot this project on 16mm film, imprinting it with the right feeling supporting that honest character he thrived for.
