Berq‘
Rote Flaggen EP
(26.05.2023)
The visual concept regarding our aesthetic approach toward the films of Berq’s EP is based on the idea of stylized short films that focus on the rather abstracts narratives that aim to grasp the feeling transported by the song on a metaphorical layer, working with little yet well-balanced effects and ideally only one location and overarching theme.
Despite this relatively reduced approach, we aim to create a unique visual identity that is for one based on the haptic feeling, the surface of our films, that feels grainy, organic, and authentic, which made shooting on 16mm film the obvious choice. The equally relevant counterpart of those films is the narrative, which should feel equally gritty, somewhat dark, and intensely emotional, working with little active but rather passive story – think subtext, not text.
