Solange Cover
(06.02.2025)
The conceptual approach for the cover story of Solange for ANTI PAPER is based on recreating the idols one created for oneself when being young. The idea of alternative versions of oneself that draws inspiration from childlike dreams, teenage idols, and the concept of what-if? Creating three different facets, brought to life in three different looks of Solange, emphasized through Styling, Hair and Make-Up, Set-Design, and obviously attitude.
While quoting different genres through this approach, we aimed for a modern look through an overarching lighting approach while maintaining the different, quite particular archetypical essence through the other mentioned elements. After our talks with Solange, we developed the three characters as close as possible to her real facets throughout the years.
One setting emerges from one of her current personas, the painter and artist, one version that she made her reality. A second one is born from the extravagant gaming and anime style, balancing anime’s elegance with exaggerated game design. The third persona is grounded in the depiction of the femme fatale within the French Nouvelle Vague chasing the women portrayed by artists such as Jean Luc Godard.
